The Royals have clinched the AL Central, but the rough September has raised some questions.
We brought up some of those concerns and discussed how this year’s team is different from last year’s.
But we didn’t want to dwell on the negatives, because this Royals team has a lot going for it. So we compared last year’s offense to this year’s. We raved about roster flexibility and safety nets in case of injury.
And we also talked about why not having home field advantage for the ALCS isn’t something to panic about.
Articles referenced this week:
- Rany returned and two of his blog posts were on my mind: Here on home field and the lessened impact in a seven game series, and here, where he has a good breakdown of the Royals’ roster flexibility, which I enjoyed.
- Joe Posnanski’s mention of the clashing styles and stadiums of the Royals and Blue Jays is from this link.
- “The night Kansas City baseball came back to life” by Andy McCullough, which should be required reading. A detailed recap of the Royals’ win in the Wild Card game last year.
