Kansas City Baseball Vault: On Buying, Selling, and Royals Therapy

kcBaseballVaultBanner-1024x409

We recorded as the Royals were trying to find their first win of the second half, and the month-long plummet from first place to below-.500 had taken its toll.

So Jeff and Mike winged it, talking about player development, run scoring approaches, buying or selling at the deadline, the lineage of Royals GMs, and what kind of hope might remain for 2014.

We’ve enjoyed the support of Kelly’s Westport Inn for years and we’re now also glad to partner with Baseball-Reference.com and their Play Index service for the near future. Help support the show by hopping over to Baseball-Reference.com and signing up for the Play Index by using promo code “Royals” to save $6 off the regular yearly price of $36 – it’s a great tool for detailed baseball stat research, and something we play around with every day.

If you find any great Royals stat trivia or trends using the Play Index or Baseball-Reference, email us at kansascitybaseballvault@gmail.com. Near the end of July, we’ll give away copies of Willie Mays Aikens’ book “Safe At Home” to three listeners. I’m also adding a copy of “The Art of Scouting” to the contest.

Used to blog about the Royals, now just podcast about them. I used to be a Bob Hamelin fan, too. Oops.
